Chickenpox is a common childhood disease caused by the herpes varicella virus. The incubation period for chickenpox disease ranges from 10 to 23 days. One to three weeks after exposure to the virus, symptoms of chickenpox will begin to appear and including rash on the face and body. The chickenpox rash grows into blisters which will dry and form scabs after a number of days. Children with chickenpox may have a low grade fever. Chickenpox in adults and issues related to chickenpox and pregnancy can lead to more serious medical conditions leading to pneumonia, breathing problems and the risk of birth defects for pregnant women.
